An often overlooked step in the 3D printing process is the post-processing of the printed components. While 3D printing has focused mainly on prototyping in the past, the focus today is on the production of final components, for example for the consumer market but also for industry. Therefore, the components from the 3D printer are also refined – to give the product the finishing touch.
In the fourth and last event of our expert forum on Additive Manufacturing with Multi Jet Fusion Technology, you will get an overview of the possibilities and challenges of post-processing: How to join components, create shiny surfaces, rich colours or special engravings. Thus, the component becomes an individual personalised product of the highest quality.
If the post-processing process is optimised, industrial reproducibility can be achieved, especially for visible parts. As a result of post-processing automation, production costs and lead time can be reduced.
The experts from HP, AMT, DyeMansion and thinkTEC 3D provide many practical examples to illustrate the process and the resulting opportunities in detail.
** Unfortunately, due to the current situation, we have to postpone the “Journey to Digital Production” workshop indefinitely. Feel free to register with us anyway and we will inform you personally as soon as a new date is set.**
On 03/12/2020, get to know step by step the possibilities of 3D construction and its efficient application in the 3D printing area with HP Multi Jet Fusion technology and join us on the path of component- and cost-optimised design for digital 3D printing.
Customizing and series production with the fastest delivery times are now established in many leading companies. Using practical examples, you will learn step by step about the possibilities of 3D design and its efficient application in 3D printing with HP Multi Jet Fusion technology.
In our TEC Center, you will also find many application examples from practice and you are cordially invited to experience additive manufacturing live.

Überlingen – Let go of the old and dare the new: Innovative medium-sized companies like thinkTEC 3D GmbH from Grafenau are not afraid of change, but see it as an opportunity. The company thus convinced the 27th round of the TOP 100 innovation competition. thinkTEC 3D officially belongs among the TOP 100 as of June 19. In the scientific selection process, the company was particularly impressive in size class A (up to 50 employees) in the “Innovation Success” category.
As a full-service provider for 3D printing, thinkTEC 3D specialises in additive series production. This TOP 100 company produces complex machine parts, individual orthoses (e.g. bracers and leg braces) and components for the electronics industry, but also unusual things such as gold-plated wardrobe panels.
The top innovator from Grafenau in Bavaria, founded in 2016, presented a world first with its first completely additively manufactured sample case. Engineers and designers can use it to experience, feel and try out the new technology. The possibilities of freedom of form, the representation of complex geometries and the diversity of additive manufacturing are illustrated. It was conceived by the two founders, Roman Weber and Marco Biebl, who today run the company together with Herbert Schicketanz as the third managing director.
The greatest advantage of additive manufacturing is the freedom of shape that is not available with injection moulding or turning and milling. This allows the realisation of highly complex structures that are also extremely light and stable. In addition, the complex construction of production tools is no longer necessary. An assembly that used to consist of ten parts can be designed layer by layer using 3D printing so that you end up with just one component. “Our goal is to establish additive series production in the industry,” says Managing Director Roman Weber.
TOP 100: the Competition
Since 1993, compamedia has been awarding medium-sized companies the TOP 100 seal for special innovative strength and above-average innovation success. Since 2002, the scientific management has been in the hands of Prof. Dr. Nikolaus Franke. Franke is the founder and director of the Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the Vienna University of Economics and Business. The TOP 100 mentor is science journalist Ranga Yogeshwar. Project partners are the Fraunhofer Society for the Promotion of Applied Research and the BVMW. Manager magazin, impulse and W&V accompany the company comparison as media partners. Digital manufacturing is advancing at a rapid pace, and HP’s Multijet Fusion technology has quickly established itself as a force to be reckoned with in this area.
Together with our partner HP Inc., we offer Online Training for Multijet Fusion (MJF) Technology to learn the details and possibilities of this technology.
Assembly design and lattice structures for special materials
Cost optimisation for MJF components and media applications
Component optimisation for MJF and component identification
We offer the workshop at the special price of €180 per participant. After participation, you will receive a confirmation of participation from the HP 3D Academy. The training will be held in German.
The next course in German will be held “live” in week 24/25. Start the first workshop: 8 June 2020 Even if you don’t have time on that date, you can view the courses in the HP Academy whenever you want and as often as you want for the next few months.
If you have any questions, simply contact us. It is an advantage if you know the basic functionality of MJF before the workshop. We will be happy to support you in this as well.
Today, our new state-of-the-art production equipment – an HP Jet Fusion 5210 printing system – was delivered. Due to its rapid production time, this machine is particularly suitable for series production.
This machine can process the materials PA11, PA12, PA12GB and, brand new, TPU.
